This is possibly the worst economy since the great depression. High unemployment, drastic inflation, a dying stock market, and the downsizing of many industries. Hey- I have an idea, let’s start a magazine. Better yet, let’s make it portable so you can carry it in your pocket or purse, and also use it as a practical guide. Let’s target a demographic that thrives in San Francisco, but is largely ignored in the local magazine market. We created NOVO to reflect the attitudes, lifestyle and culture of forward-thinking, creative San Franciscans. NOVO is the ultimate resource for modern urban living in portable format. NOVO is quality content, useful information, brilliant imagery, clean contemporary design, eco friendly, and portable.
Simply publishing a proven concept in a printed format was not enough. I wanted to provide both a published distribution, as well as an internet experience that meets the needs of readers and advertisers in a packaged format. After finally arriving in San Francisco following my 2300 mile drive across the country, and while diligently in search of a strategic technology partner, I eventually discovered Si Design Group. Their founder and Art Director, Samim Surel, was looking for a fresh idea in a magazine, while I was in search of the most creative ad agency I could find . I guess the harder you work, the luckier you get.
I can now say I have gone full circle, and here I am back in California. There’s a reason for everything. I do hope you enjoy the launch preview issue of NOVO Magazine, and we look forward to giving you our best in every issue.
